Why to use Tic-Tac-Toe in marketing

Why Tic-Tac-Toe, you ask?

At its core, Tic-Tac-Toe is a symbol of simplicity and universal appeal, making it an extraordinary tool in the realm of marketing.

This game transcends age, language, and culture, inviting everyone to engage with a familiar and beloved challenge.

But there’s more – with Adact’s innovative platform, Tic-Tac-Toe transforms into a dynamic canvas for your brand. The magic lies in its customization – imagine your logo becoming the game pieces, your brand colors weaving through the grid, creating a memorable and interactive brand experience.

Furthermore, the adjustable difficulty levels cater to all audiences, ensuring that your game is accessible yet stimulating, keeping your customers returning for more and more gameplays.

Tic-Tac-Toe isn’t just a game; it’s a potent engagement magnet, pulling your audience closer to your brand in a playful, yet meaningful way. With Adact, unleash the power of this classic game and watch your marketing strategy triumph in the digital arena.

Tic-tac-toe is a very simple game to build and start using. It only requires for you to change the background and decide which objects the players play with and what belongs to the opponent.

Here-s a step-by-step guide on how to build your own tic-tac-toe game

Step 1: Create the game in Adact

When you go into Campaign selection for your next gamified marketing solution, you can find Tic-Tac-Toe under puzzle and competitive games.

We always say – if you know how to build one game with Adact, you know how to build all of them. That is the case here as well.

As always the game is previewed on the right and all the settings are shown on the left.

The game preview updates in real time so you can instantly see what you are building and how does the end result look like.

Tic-Tac-Toe editable game settings

Let me cover all the options that you can change in the game:

Visual Design Options

  • Game Background – Choose a background color, border radius, border color and opacity for the game background area
  • Game Objects – What objects are players playing with. You can either use standard X’s and O’s or upload your own custom images.
  • Game Object Animation – How will the game icons be drawn to the game board.
  • Game Board Lines – How will your game lines look like? You can either choose any of our preset line styles or upload your own line style.

Game Rules Options

  • Number of Rounds – Will the game be played 1, 3 or 5 rounds.
  • Game Difficulty  – What is the probability that Computer makes a mistake
  • Intermission screen settings – Visual Design Options between the rounds

Did you know

Tic-Tac-Toe is considered to be a “solved game”. This means that from whatever moment in the game, a computer is able to determine either a winning path or the most beneficial path.

For example Chess has still not been solved. In fact we do not even know how many possible variations there is in a chess board. The number is estimated to be between 10^111 and 10^123 – this is called the Shannon Number

Example of setting up a Tic Tac Toe game board

As is with all Adact games, it will never be any more complicated than just dragging the same icons into the game and you can instantly see the preview how your game looks like.

Here’s an example

Opponent icon on the Left and Player Icon on the Right

Of course we can change the entire game visuals including the background and the line styles as well.

I went a head and uploaded a background for the game and also changed the game style slightly.

You can try the final version of the game out the end result yourself and see if you can beat the AI!

Step 2: Launch the game

Of course the obvious question is – how can my audience take part? How do I actually have people play my branded minigame.

Here’s a preview of all the options you can do with Adact

First you can publish your freshly created tic-tac-toe on our domain by creating your brand landing page on the Adact domain. This comes by default and you do not need to do anything. Every game you ever launch with adact lives in your custom domain so you can just direct people to this landing page via Facebook campaigns and everything works!

Secondly you can integrate the Tic-Tac-Toe to your website or even in the middle of your website content. To do so, you will copy a single line of code from our Adact puzzle generator to your website and the custom puzzle will instantly appear. This example is also done in this very blog post where I integrated my own Tic-Tac-Toe to this post.

Thirdly you can even create an entirely new subpage to your website dedicated to Adact campaigns. This automatically publishes all the games in your desired subpage! So you could create “tictactoe.yourwebsite.com” and have the campaign appear there.  Again you would just need to direct people to this site.

Lastly you can create a widget to your website. When visitors click on the widget, the campaign can either open from the side of the page or as a popup. This can also be seen in this blog post if you look towards bottom left (you didn’t close it already – did you?)

The Adact domain is more appropriate for your audience since once they land on the page, they only have the option to play the game.

The Adact domain has no traffic distractions, increasing user engagement and campaign results. It is also a faster way to publish your puzzle.

Bonus: Easter Gamification Marketing Example

As an extra treat I have created an example on how can a brand use Tic Tac Toe campaign during easter.

As Easter approaches, brands seek innovative ways to connect with their audience, and Adact’s Customizable Tic-Tac-Toe emerges as an ideal solution. This game is a natural fit for the Easter holiday, synonymous with fun, family-friendly activities. Imagine transforming the traditional Tic-Tac-Toe grid into an Easter wonderland, where instead of X’s and O’s, players use beautifully designed Easter eggs or playful bunnies, fully embracing the holiday spirit.

This not only adds an Easter-themed twist to the game but also creates a visually appealing and engaging experience for users.

This strategy leverages the festive mood, encouraging increased engagement and creating memorable brand experiences.

By aligning the simplicity and enjoyment of Tic-Tac-Toe with the joyous essence of Easter, businesses can effectively capture the holiday spirit, fostering a deeper emotional connection with their audience and enhancing their marketing impact.

Conclusion

Adact’s Customizable Tic-Tac-Toe offers a straightforward yet effective approach to incorporating gamification into marketing strategies.

Its simplicity as a universally known game makes it easily accessible and appealing to a wide audience.

The customizable features provide a flexible canvas for brands to subtly integrate their identity, making marketing efforts more engaging without being overbearing.

Especially in contexts like Easter promotions, it adds a seasonal twist that can enhance customer engagement in a playful, relevant manner.

Ultimately, while it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, Adact’s Tic-Tac-Toe presents a valuable option for brands looking to add an interactive element to their marketing toolkit, striking a balance between fun and brand awareness.

We will give you a website or you can add the game to your website and direct them there. You could for example use the following banner in Facebook to direct your audience to the campaign

Who is mainly participating in Game Based Marketing

The average demographic may surprise you! If you would show the game based marketing to every person in the world, then the largest audience that would click and participate are aged 27-45 females.

While it’s a valid statistic – it does not reflect your participations.

In your campaign the participants will be those who you direct your advertisement and marketing towards.

If you create a marketing campaign about heavy machinery and you set up your marketing towards older males then your campaign participants will be older males.

Games are a universal language from which everyone will find joy!
